Professor Farhat Beg, a member of the Center for Energy Research and
the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, has been
selected as the winner of the 2008 IEEE/NPSS Early Achievement Award.
The Early Achievement Award recognizes outstanding contributions to any
of the fields making up Nuclear and Plasma Sciences, within the first
ten (10) years of an individual's career. The citation reads: "For
contributions to the understanding of electron transport in short pulse
high intensity laser matter interactions and the physics of pulsed
power driven z-pinches."
